Carlo Parente is a licensed architect and educator who has designed award-winning projects in North America, Asia, and the Middle East. Parente’s community-focused work is guided by a holistic approach, which integrates performance-based design, new technologies, theory, and culture. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architectural Science at Ryerson University where he teaches studios and core curriculum courses.  
Prior to establishing an independent practice, Parente was a senior designer at leading firms in Chicago and in his native Toronto. While at at Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, Parente led design efforts for a number of AS+GG’s award winning projects, including Residential and Office Tower Projects and Master plans in Dubai, Beijing, Shanghai and Mumbai. In his native Toronto, Parente was a co-founder and partner at Studioblackbox. His work in that city also included tenures at RDH Architects, Brown & Storey Architects, and Robert Chang Architect where he designed educational and community based projects.
